Our #1 SureFire Tactical Flashlight

It wasn’t long ago that Surefire entered their hand in the tactical pen market. Their vision was simple: to build the most robust and multi-functioning pens on the market. No matter the model, you can be rest assured that a Surefire Tactical Pen will be at a quality standard matched by very few of its competitors. At tacticaltechdevices.com we find ourselves using Surefire pens all the time as they tend to last longer than any other of the pens we have in the office.

Surefire Pen II Writing Instrument

It seems to be the perfect weight in your hand and the finish on the pen feels perfect. I can’t help but be satisfied with the care put into the finish of this pen. The Surefire II is one of those pens I was mentioning above that we’ve had for quite some time. In our experience, it takes more than just a rough day in the field to bruise this particular model up as we have exposed it to some pretty strong pressure in our testings. Even my big rig running over it didn’t cause it to explode!

Made of hard anodized aerospace-grade aluminum, it’s similar to other tactical pens in that it’s made for durability. Anodization is a process whereby the aluminum coating on the exterior actually gets stronger. Obviously a pretty big bonus for an item such as a tactical pen. The indestructibility is extended from the pen to pocket clip which is also extremely sturdy and will not break off unless something pretty intense happens to it.

On average, the Surefire tactical pen is reviewed 5/5 stars virtually everytime. The only drawback with this tactical pen is that it is a little bit on the pricey side. Still, you can often find it for pretty cheap through one of our sales on Amazon.

Surefire IV Writing Pen

The ink it ships with the Schmidt easyFLOW 9000 ink which is some of my favorite ink because of its versatility. It doesn’t seem like it matters if I am in the middle of a freezing cold blizzard or in the heat of silicone valley, the Schmidt easyFLOW 9000 is a fantastic ink and I am excited to see it coming stock in the Surefire IV as a tactical pens primary purpose is still to write.

Again, like all Surefire pens, it is made of rugged aerospace quality anodized aluminum which means it will be virtually incombustible. And with a heavy-duty steel pocket clip, the SureFire IV will be a pen which you will carry for many years to come.

As tactical pens do have a secondary function as a self-defence weapon, I can say that although doubtful I will ever need to use it for that purpose, it sure does feel great in the palm of my hand. It’s a bit heavier than I expected which I am sure will help me in the case I ever do need to swing it at somebody or something.

SureFire Tactical Pen (Twist)

[easyazon_image add_to_cart=”default” align=”left” asin=”B0026R5SNO” cloaking=”default” height=”114″ localization=”default” locale=”US” nofollow=”default” new_window=”default” src=”http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31Xmhpk9%2BiL._SL160_.jpg” tag=”tacticaldevices-20″ width=”160″]If you are looking for an option that avoids the click style pen, the SureFire twist is perhaps your best ticket. Although one of the pricier options for a tactical pen, as are all Surefire pens, this particular model will you have writing very well for a long time to come. Upon delivery (which was super quick) I took this pen out of the box to be surprised by its weight. A common theme for Surefire pens, they ensure that you will be well protected in the case you ever need to use it as a self defence weapon.

Often times, people will look for a twist style pen because they are worried about a click-mechanism breaking which is of course valid. One thing to consider however is that although a twist mechanism is more reliable, if you need to use this pen as a self-defence tool, it will take some time to turn the point. On the flip side, the twist mechanism also acts as a glass-breaker which is something the other options lack.
